May is finally here, and from the looks of it, it’s shaping up to be a month filled with sunshine and fun! The Tri-Cities area has tons of exciting activities on the calendar for May! So, keep reading to get in the loop! For more events and goings on, check out the events calendar on our website!

Search for the Perfect Pint: May 9th

Beer lovers unite! This is the ultimate event for those who seek to find the perfect pint! For just $45, your ticket will get you access to beer samples from over 22 craft breweries and appetizers from 6 restaurants. It will be an evening to eat drink and be merry! May Day Parade and Party at Leigh Square: May 11th

Did you know the Port Coquitlam May Day celebration is one of the biggest in Metro Vancouver?! This Spring festival is always a great time to celebrate the Spring! On Saturday the 11th, sun is in the forecast and you can celebrate May Days with your family all day long!

Start out with a delicious pancake breakfast at the outlet at Leigh Square from 8-11am, yum! Followed by one of the most fun traditions: the parade! Make sure to get there early (10:30) to see the Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team perform for the pre show, you won’t want to miss it! The parade then starts at 11 sharp on Shaughnessy Street, and finishes on Tyner Street. There will be floats, entertainment, and tons of laughs!

Finish off the day with the party at Leigh Square, where there will be activity stations for the kids, as well as live music! In addition to plenty of eats and treats, there will certainly be no shortage of fun!

Spirit of India Festival: May 11th

The 11th is packed with fun activities! From 1-4pm, as part of Asian Heritage Month, join in at Port Moody Arts Centre for the Spirit of India Spring Festival! There will be art exhibits, music, dancing and cultural performances! These activities are to go with the Spirit of India Group Exhibit, which will be on display at the arts centre until May 30th. Learn about the beauties and intricacies of Indian culture, while having fun at the same time!

Mother’s Day High Tea at Coquitlam Heritage

There’s something about having tea on Mother’s Day that just feels right for the holiday! This year, celebrate the lovely mama, aunt, grandmother or simply a female figure in your life by going for High Tea at Coquitlam Heritage! Cinderella Kids & James and the Giant Peach Jr. – May 17-19th

On May 17th-19th, join in for a lovely production of “Cinderella Kids” and “James and the Giant Peach Jr,” put on by the talented students of the Lindbjerg Academy of Performing Arts! Two classic tales that will bring you right back to your childhood, the talented actors at the Lindbjerg Academy will blow you away! May 19 – onwards – Coquitlam Farmer’s Market

Coquitlam Farmer’s Market is almost here! Join in every Sunday from 9am to 1pm on Poirier Street for all the market has to offer! Fresh produce from your favourite, trusted local farmers, collections of the tastiest artisan food products, just to name a couple! Don’t forget all the baked treats, local vendors and more! What a perfect way to spend a Sunday morning in the Spring sunshine.

May 26th: Como Lake Fishing Derby

Finally, this one is for the youngsters of Tri-Cities under the age of 16! Do you love fishing? If so, on May 26th come on down for the Como Lake fishing derby and show off your skills! There will be hundreds of prizes divided by age category and catch of fish, so everyone can participate! Furthermore, the day will even start out with a pancake breakfast! Most importantly, it will be a great Sunday spent outside having fun! This event is put on by the following companies… The Coquitlam Festival Society, The Kinsmen Club of Coquitlam, The Port Coquitlam District Hunting and Fishing Club, and Coquitlam Leisure and Parks Services.
